Youths started a deliberate fire in woodland last night (Monday).
Firefighters from South Kirkby were called to the land, just off Holmsley Lane, at around 8.50pm.
A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said that it’s thought youths piled rubbish up and set it on fire.
He said that although the blaze did not spread, but it could have been dangerous as it was in close proximity to an electricity pylon.
Because of the location, firefighters could not use hose reels at the scene so had to use a portable, manual backpack pump to extinguish the blaze.
The scene was cleared by around 9.20pm.
