WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats head coach Richard Agar has named a 21-man squad ahead of his team’s pre-season clash with rivals Castleford Tigers on Sunday.

Agar’s men go into the pre-season trial game on the back of last Saturday’s 46-10 loss at Catalan Dragons and the Wakefield boss “wants a performance” against Tigers to help banish the disappointment in France.

Andy Raleigh will miss the game having sustained a rib cartilage injury last weekend while Frankie Mariano may be played if he can shake off a bruised toe sustained during a fall down stairs.

Prop forward Oli Wilkes will not play on Sunday but should recover from appendix surgery in time to play at Batley on Sunday, January 29.

Agar said: “I want to see improvements against Cas because we got dusted up a bit by Catalan.”

The Wakefield boss intends to trim his initial 21-man squad to 17 or 18 players closer to Sunday’s 3.30pm kick-off.

Wildcats 21-man squad: Mathers, Fox, Collis, Mellors, Cockayne, John, Smith, James, Aiton, Southern, Kirmond, Lauitiiti, Washbrook, Wood, Johnson, Ellis, Amor, Walshaw, Trout, Tony, Mariano.
