Beach rugby teams invited to enter tournaments

RUGBY players are being invited to take part in special beach touch rugby tournaments organised throughout the summer.

Eight tournaments have been planned in Yorkshire and the North East, with the finishing places in each of the competitions counting towards an overall winner.

Prizes will be awarded for the winners of each tournament and to the overall winner with the best composite tally from all events played in.

The tournaments are limited to 25 teams per event, with each squad consisting of 10 people aged over 18. Teams are of six players and the entry fee is £40 per team.

Overall winners will collect a cup, a signed England shirt and 10 tickets to the Twickenham Sevens in May 2012.

The Yorkshire and North East programme comprises: June 19 - Sandhaven, South Shields; June 26 - South Beach, Scarborough; July 10 - Red Row, Druridge Bay; July 17 - South Beach, Bridlington; July 24 - The Front, Seaton Carew; August 7 - Longsands, Tynemouth; August 13 - Majuba Road, Redcar; August 21 - Seaburn Beach, Sunderland.
