A QUARTET of Wakefield golfers are involved in The Open Championship qualifying in Leeds today.

Professional golfers Adrian Ambler and David Mansell will be joined by amateur hopefuls Scott Douglas and Richard Law at Moortown Golf Club in north Leeds.

They’ll be among hundreds of golfers nationwide who’ll be looking to earn a place in the world-famous major, to be held at Royal Lytham and St Annes next month.

Just 12 qualifying places are available to compete alongside names such as Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald in the prestigious event.

Success in the regional qualifying round today would see the golfers through to a final local qualifying round on Tuesday, July 3.
