WAKEFIELD FC have announced their first three friendly matches of the close season in preparation for the 2011-12 Evo-Stik Premier League Campaign.

The Bears will travel to Northern Counties East League (NCEL) Premier Division side Tadcaster Albion on Wednesday, July 20 (kick-off 7.30pm).

A trip to another NCEL side in local team Hemsworth MW will follow on Saturday, July 30 (kick-off 3pm).

The only home friendly fixture of the pre-season so far will be against Evo-Stik Premier Division side Frickley Athletic on Saturday, August 6 (kick-off 3pm).

The Bears will announce more friendly fixtures in due course.

They’ll learn of their fixtures for the 2011-12 Division 1 North campaign on Wednesday, July 6 when the league announces the new season fixture calendar.

Steve Nicholson has been confirmed as manager following a successful caretaker stint last season and the Bears will be playing their home matches at Ossett Town’s Stade France ground next term.

Wakefield FC Ladies are looking to bolster their squad with new players for the forthcoming season.

The club has arranged two trial dates for potential new players to showcase their talents and sign up for the 2011-12 campaign.

Both trials will take place at North Avenue playing fields and the first will take place on Sunday from 11am-1pm before another will be held on Thursday from 7.30pm-9pm.

The ambitious club has two teams, with the first team playing in the Northern Combination League and the second team competing in the North East Regional WFL.

The first team come up against sides such as Middlesborough, Stockport County and Sheffield Wednesday and will play their matches at Nostell MW’s Welfare Ground in Crofton next season.

Current players will also be taking part in the trials and all players must be at least 16-years-old.
