Blues impress in Park Avenue victory

Bradford Park Avenue 2-3 Frickley Athletic

FRICKLEY Athletic secured their best win since Peter Rinkcavage took charge of the team with a 3-2 success at Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday.

Goals from Mark Whitehouse, Andy Lee and Ashley Longstaff gave the Blues three vital Evo-Stik Premier Division points at the Horsfall Stadium to move them up to 16th in the table.

The Tech5 Stadium club had to come from behind though after Steve Burton fired the hosts ahead from the penalty spot after Simon Sturdy was adjudged to have felled Simon Baldry inside the box.

It took Rinkcavage’s troops just six minutes to respond as Whitehouse levelled from a pin-point James Kay cross.

The Blues turned the game on its head in first-half stoppage time as Lee fired the visitors ahead.

And the three points were all-but sealed with five minutes to go when Longstaff bagged his first goal since making the switch from Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Avenue pulled a goal back through Adam Clayton late on but it wasn’t enough to deny the Blues three points.
