A TOM Denton hat-trick helped book Wakefield FC’s place in the next round of the FA Cup after the Bears saw off ground-sharing rivals Ossett Town 4-0 at Stade France on Saturday.
The former Huddersfield Town striker opened the scoring 15 minutes into the first qualifying round tie before completing his treble with a brace in the second half.
Luke Malcher had made it 2-0 just before half-time as Steve Nicholson’s men secured their second emphatic win over Town in three weeks following their 4-1 win in the league last month.
The Bears also received around £3,000 in prize money for their victory and will enter the hat for the second qualifying round draw, which takes place today.
Things didn’t get any better for Ossett Albion in Evo-Stik Division 1 North as they suffered a 5-0 defeat at Farsley FC.
Ben Jones opened the scoring for Farsley early on before Ryan Watson gave Albion a mountain to climb with a brace of first-half goals in ten minutes.
Steve Mallory and Gareth Grant completed the rout.
