WAKEFIELD FC and Ossett Albion both bowed out of the Doodson Sport Cup at the first round stage last night.
The Bears fell to a 4-2 defeat at Sheffield FC while Albion went down 2-1 at home against Brigg Town.
Steve Nicholson’s men were always trailing at Evo-Stik Division 1 South side Sheffield and Ashley Longstaff netted twice inside the first half-hour.
Danny South scored to get the visitors back into the contest but Sheffield regained their two-goal cushion shortly after the restart through former Sheffield Wednesday hitman David Graham.
Matt Glass wrapped up the victory for the hosts before Christopher Walton completed the scoring for the Bears.
At the Warehouse Systems Stadium Albion took an 18th minute lead through Darol Lucas.
It wasn’t to last though as Bruno Holden levelled for Brigg on the restart and Philip Jackman scored the winner for the visitors.
