IT was a bad weekend for the district’s three Evo-Stik Premier League clubs.

Wakefield FC were the only side to bag a point against lowly Prescot Cables while Ossett duo Albion and Town both slumped to heavy defeats in Division 1 North.

The Bears needed Danny South to rescue a point for them at Stade France against Cables in the 90th minute after Michael Grogan had fired the Merseysiders ahead in the 78th minute.

At the Warehouse Systems Stadium basement side Ossett Albion were thrashed 5-2 by Garforth Town.

The visitors swooped into a 4-0 lead before Kurtis Noble at least gave the hosts some hope by pulling a goal back.

Tom Copping further reduced the arrears in the 79th minute but Garforth wrapped up the victory in the 87th minute through Fernando Moke.

Ossett Town were always going to find the going tough at leaders Skelmersdale United and they went down 4-0.

Phil Sharpe’s men put up a fight until the 58th minute when Skelmersdale found the breakthrough and they added three more goals in the next 19 minutes.
