Wakefield’s Duane Holmes scored two goals but Huddersfield Town U18s suffered a 3-2 defeat at Nottingham Forest in the FA Youth Cup fifth round.

The young Terriers were aiming to become the first team from the club to reach the sixth round of the competition since the 1974/75 season.

However, their talented Forest counterparts got off to a flying start at the City Ground with Derrick Otim’s brace putting them 2-0 up inside 17 minutes.

Huddersfield refused to buckle however and Holmes struck to reduce the arrears on 23 minutes.

Morgan Ferrier’s header restored Forest’s two goal advantage only two minutes later and the hosts held their rivals at bay despite Town creating good chances in the second period.

With four minutes remaining, top scorer Holmes netted his second, to take his personal tally to 11 goals in 15 starts, but Forest held on to progress to the sixth round.
