Bromby could be out for a year: Warnock

Bromby, 31, ruptured his patella tendon and was stretchered off in agony after slipping awkwardly unopposed.

It is the latest in a number of injury setbacks for the player and he could be ruled out for up to a year.

The Dewsbury-born player has struggled to hold down a regular place in the first team at Elland Road this season, but had started in four of Leeds’ last five games under manager Neil Warnock.

Bromby, who began his career at Sheffield Wednesday and had two stints at Sheffield United before joining Leeds in September 2009, has made a total of 12 appearances this season.

On Bromby’s injury, Warnock said: “He will be out for a long, long time – I’d be surprised if he is back before Christmas. It could be a year.

“I’m gutted and disappointed for him because he has just come back in the team and done well.

“He was in agony and required oxygen because he had passed out. But the Cardiff fans were fantastic.

“They were very supportive straight away and the ref showed he knew what he was doing.

“I want to say a big thank you to everyone for the way they reacted.”
