Leeds United goalkeeper leaves for Bolton
With Leeds signing Paddy Kenny last week they have been open to offers for their first choice keeper from last season and Bolton boss Owen Coyle followed up his early summer interest in the player with an official bid.
Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday were also interested, but Preston-born Lonergan underwent a medical at Bolton last night.
United ‘s initial bid of about £200,000 was turned down, but the Jamaican international has declared his ambition to join to Leeds.
Speaking after scoring in Sunday’s 6-2 win against Odd Grenland, Austin said: “I am 27 years now, and I think the timing is right. But it is between the clubs. If I can go to Leeds, that’s something I would like.
“I don’t know if this was my last game here, but if it was, then it was a perfect way to finish.”
