Redfearn in as Milanic lasts just 32 days as Leeds United head coach

Milanic was in charge for just 32 games and six games - the samenumber of matches as David Hockaday was given earlier in the season - but this time Cellino wants Redfearn to become head man, not just as a caretaker.

As caretaker previously this season Redfearn went unbeaten in four games and earned more points than Hockaday and Milanic put together.

Shortly after seeing Leeds lose 2-1 against Wolves at Elland Road after letting a first half lead slip Cellino acted swiftly to dispense with the services of Milanic, admitting for a second time that he got his appointment of a head coach wrong.

Cellino announced that Milanic had been relieved of his duties with immediate effect and said academy boss Neil Redfearn would be promoted to the head coach’s job.

Milanic left without steering United to a victory in any of his six matches in charge - ending with a record of three draws and three defeats.

Cellino said: “I have given the order to fire him.

“I made a mistake with this guy. He is negative, he has a losing mentality. He has three points from six games, that is relegation (form).

“Neil Redfearn will take training on Monday. He is the new head coach, 100 per cent.

“I want to apologise to the supporters, they deserve better results.”
