Warnock's United fail to score again

The Whites did bring home a point from a draw against Hull City, but with Middlesbrough and Reading winning they are now further adrift of the top four and are still five points behind Birmingham in sixth, having played two games more.

Leeds remain in tenth, one place behind Hull, who will also have been disappointed with their night’s work.

United boss Warnock gave Danny Webber his first start, in place of the injured Aidan White, while Paul Connolly returned at right-back for the also injured Leigh Bromby. New loan defender Paul Robinson, meanwhile, was on the bench and did not get on.

The first chance fell to Leeds as Connolly played into Luciano Becchio, but he could not keep the ball down. Robert Snodgrass then shot wide after linking well with Ross McCormack.

The visitors had started well, but Hull fashioned their first opportunity when Cameron Stewart was put through only to hit his shot wide of the target.

Leeds keeper Andy Lonergan was forced into his first save to deny Robert Koren while at the other end Vito Mannone saved a Becchio header.

As Hull ended the half on top Lonergan kept out another Koren effort and Aaron McLean headed wide from a corner. United were riding their luck at this stage as Corey Evans was only denied by an outstanding Lonergan save and Koren was off target with another great chance.

Leeds looked more solid in the second half, but could not break the deadlock as Darren O`Dea sent a header wide and McCormack hit a shot straight at Mannone after good work by Webber.

Adam Clayton had a decent chance late on when Danny Pugh’s cross was only half-cleared, but he hit his shot wide and there was one injury-time scare for the visitors as Paul McKenna forced Lonergan into a save. With this the game ended in a disappointing goalless draw that did neither team much good.
