The Whites have been in talks with Monk and his representatives over the last two days and it has been reported that a deal has been reached with Monk possibly signing a one-year deal to take over from Steve Evans.

United have not made Monk’s appointment official, but have called a press conference at Elland Road at 2.30pm this afternoon to “unveil a key appointment to the media.”

Monk is a free agent having been sacked by Swansea last December and Cellino is believed to be keen to make an appointment as soon as possible.

The 37-year-old enjoyed 10 years as a defender at Swansea before taking over as manager in February, 2014.

He was initially successful before a bad run of results saw him removed from the job last season.
