Ossett Albion failed to boost their Evo-Stik Division 1 North survival hopes as New Mills inflicted a 4-1 defeat on the Dimple Wells club on Tuesday night.
The match was one of Albion’s games in hand on their rivals at the bottom of the division but Mills ended up emphatic winners in WF5.
Michael Bowler opened the scoring for the promotion-chasing visitors after 18 minutes and Daniel Douglas-Pringle’s strike gave Mills a comfortable 2-0 cushion at half-time.
Alex Metcalfe gave Albion some hope with a goal seven minutes after the restart but Douglas-Pringle’s second, ten minutes from time, and a Mark Innes goal ensured another miserable night for the hosts.
There were better fortunes for Ossett Town as they returned from Ramsbottom United with a share of the spoils.
Lee Gaskell fired United ahead minutes before half-time but a 51st-minute Jimmy Eyles strike ensured a hard-earned point for Craig Elliott’s men.
