The new Evo-Stik Premier League season is only a week old but the first of six Wakefield derbies takes place on Saturday.
Wakefield FC entertain Ossett Albion at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium (kick-off 3pm) and the teams go into derby day with contrasting fortunes in their opening two matches of the campaign.
The Bears will be out to maintain their unbeaten start to the season, while Albion will be eager to bag their first points after a frustrating opening double-header.
Wakefield have taken four points from a possible six, the latest a 1-1 draw against Mossley at home on Tuesday night and will be eager to make it three games unbeaten as well as bag local bragging rights.
Richard Tracey’s Albion side will be desperate to get points on the board after slipping to defeats by the same 3-2 scoreline from their opening matches.
The Dimple Wells club were set for a point on the opening day before being pipped by Bamber Bridge and on Tuesday night Albion threw away a 2-0 lead at Kendal Town to leave Cumbria with nothing to show for their efforts.
Ossett Town will aim to secure back-to-back home wins at Ingfield when they welcome Mossley (kick-off 3pm).
Craig Elliott’s men beat Ramsbottom United 2-0 in midweek for their first points of the campaign and more of the same will be demanded by the Town boss.
The matches are the first of two in three days in Division 1 North on Bank Holiday weekend.
On Monday Albion return to Dimple Wells to host Farsley FC, while Town visit New Mills and Wakefield travel to Harrogate Railway Athletic. All matches kick-off at 3pm.
