Ossett Albion deducted points after FA appeal fails

Ossett Albion have had three points deducted from their Evo-Stik First Division North tally after the FA upheld a charge that the club fielded an ineligible player.

Last August, the Evo-Stik League charged Albion for fielding Adam Jones while he was under an FA suspension.

After Albion were handed a three-point deduction and suspended fine of £100, the club submitted an appeal to the FA to overturn the penalties sanctioned.

However, at an FA hearing on Monday the appeal was dismissed and the three points gained by Albion in the win over New Mills on August 25, 2014 have been deducted.

A statement on the Ossett Albion website said: “Throughout the process Ossett Albion have been fully co-operative and transparent with all parties concerned and immediately raised the issue with the FA as soon as it became aware.

“The club feel very strongly that the penalties imposed are grossly unfair, considering the exceptional circumstances surrounding the matter and are extremely disappointed with the decision at the FA hearing.”
