OSSETT Town bagged a morale-boosting victory in their battle against relegation with a 1-0 win at Burscough on Saturday.

Daniel Sheriffe scored the winner in the 15th minute to keep Town’s Evo-Stik Premier Division survival hopes alive.

Phil Sharpe’s men remain in the relegation zone and sit seven points adrift of safety ahead of Tuesday’s home game against Worksop Town (kick-off 7.45pm), where they’ll be hoping to close the gap further.

Ossett Albion’s recent upturn in fortunes came crashing to a halt in Division 1 North with a heavy 5-1 loss at Cammell Laird.

Eric Gilchrist’s men were 2-0 down when Danny Toronczak pulled a goal back to keep them firmly in the contest.

But the hosts proved too strong in the second half and found the back of the net three more times to seal an emphatic win.

There was also woe for Wakefield FC in Division 1 North as Salford City left College Grove with a 2-1 win and three points.

Danny South had levelled Salford’s opener, scored by Mark Ayres, but Jack Redshaw’s strike for the visitors just after the hour mark sealed their win.
