Ossett Town secured one of their most impressive wins of the season at Evo-Stik Division 1 North promotion hopefuls Curzon Ashton on Monday night.
Jimmy Eyles’s 83rd-minute strike was enough to give Craig Elliott’s men all three points at the Tameside Stadium and keep alive Town’s hopes of achieving a top-half finish this season.
The match managed to beat the heavy weekend snowfall that allowed only one Evo-Stik Premier League match to be played on Saturday and Town took full advantage.
The Ingfield side produced a disciplined performance to frustrate their hosts for large spells and hit Curzon with the sucker punch seven minutes from time through the former Nostell MW man.
The result also avenged the 4-1 defeat suffered by Town in the reverse fixture in WF5 last month.
The match was the first of four in a week for Elliott’s side, who welcome New Mills to Ingfield on Wednesday (kick-off 7.45pm) before visiting Burscough on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) and hosting neighbours Ossett Albion in a derby clash on Easter Monday (kick-off 3pm).
