OSSETT Town will aim to upset the form book when they travel to leaders FC Halifax Town in the Evo-Stik Premier Division tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Shaymen will be firm favourites to bag three points which will see them continue on the path to promotion this season and in turn keep Town in the thick of relegation trouble.

Town sit second-from-bottom of the division after an agonising 4-3 loss at Marine on Saturday saw them start the year with back-to-back defeats.

Phil Sharpe’s men looked on course for a share of the spoils at high-flying Marine as they fought their way back from 3-0 down to level the scores at 3-3 with six minutes to go.

But a hard-earned draw was snatched from their grasp in the 90th minute when the hosts bagged a cruel winner.

Sharpe will be able to take the positives from Town’s battling performance though, something which showed a marked improvement from their 6-0 home defeat against Bradford Park Avenue in their previous outing.

The Town boss will be eager for more of the same for the full 90 minutes at the Shay tonight as Town aim to haul themselves away from relegation trouble.

The Shaymen enjoyed a 5-0 West Riding County Cup success at Stade France at the start of November but Sharpe will be hoping for a closer contest tonight.

Ossett Albion are in similar relegation danger in Division 1 North and will be looking for much-needed points at home against Bamber Bridge tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

Eric Gilchrist’s side were dealt a big blow in their battle against the drop when they lost 3-1 at home against relegation rivals Prescot Cables on Saturday.

A much improved performance will be demanded tonight against the Lancashire side or the Albion boss could start to make wholesale changes to his squad.

Wakefield FC are also in action tonight when they host Clitheroe at College Grove (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Bears fell to a 3-1 defeat at leaders Chester on Saturday and Steve Nicholson’s men will aim to get back to winning ways on home soil.
