SLIDESHOW: Proud Altofts get a taste of joy and despair in thrilling Charles Rice League Cup final

Altofts Juniors FC can be proud that both its under-10s teams made the Charles Rice League Cup final - but there had to be a winner and loser.

The Blues and Reds battled their way to Sunday’s final date and it was the Reds who edged a seven-goal thriller.

Cameron West-Samuel scored a hat-trick for the Blues but it was not enough to help his team avoid defeat in a dramatic final.

Riley Walker scored twice for the Reds while Thomas Lavin and Sam Mercer also found the back of the net as they left it late to secure a 4-3 victory.

Both teams were left with plenty of credit, despite a heartbreaking defeat for the Blues, after enjoying great seasons in their respective leagues.

Will Brook took the man of the match honours for the Reds, while hat-trick hero West-Samuel, Lewis Heyes and Josh Parrish shared the accolade for the Blues.
