FORMER Normanton Knights half-back Ryan Hampshire produced a man-of-the-match performance to help England Academy record a good 38-18 win over their counterparts from France at Odsal Stadium.

Hampshire, now at Wigan Warriors, was one of three ex-Knights named in Dave Elliott’s side with Leeds Rhinos duo Jordan Harper and Rob Mulhern also in the squad.

The tourists broke the deadlock but England hit back through scores from Lewis Tierney, James Saltonstall and Joe Burgess.

Hampshire then broke free from halfway to score the try of the game and give England a comfortable 20-6 half-time lead.

The French reduced the arrears with a try early in the second period and they responded with another score after Dominic Speakman had crossed the whitewash.

Jordan Baldwinson added to England’s tally and the game was put beyond the visitors when Luke Briscoe touched-down and Hampshire kicked his fifth successful goal to seal a 38-18 success.
