Local teams meet in last 32 of National Village Cup

Fairburn won at Bradford Premier League East Ardsley in the West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Humberside regional final.

Fairburn went through on a faster scoring rate after the match was abandoned when they were 163-4 from 32 overs, replying to Ardsley’s 171-5 from 40 overs.

Openers Ashley Battye (35) and Scott Mullins (25) put on 65 to give Ardsley’s innings a solid start. Haseem Bashir (31), Ashley Pearson (25) and David Kibler (25no) were the other main contributors.

Fairburn’s Jake Abdy and Adam Williamson each claimed two wickets.

Craig Piggott hit 68 off 67 balls and Ryan Greatrick struck 45 as Fairburn made excellent progress in reply before the weather intervened.

Brook-Walton won at Lancashire side Egerton in the South Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside regional final.

Alwyn Dyke (3-31) and Shane Payne (2-21) limited Egerton to 93-9 in a 30-over match. Jordan Harvey (30no), Ryan Lethbridge (29) and Mark Robinson (21no) guided Brook to an eight-wicket win in 17.3 overs.
