Athletics: Young Harriers teams impress in road relays

Young teams from Wakefield Harriers gave excellent accounts of themselves at the ERRA Young Athletes Road Relays at Sutton Park, Birmingham.

The Harriers were up against some of the top teams from around England and the Wakefield youngsters competed well.

Leading the way were the U13s boys team of Matthew Hill, Liam Grosse and Max Rose, who weren’t too far away from the medals in seventh and were the second highest placed Yorkshire club.

The B team of Matthew Crorken, Oliver Mallinson and Callum Gee were 38th, with Matthew impressing on his first appearance for the Harriers with the fastest time from the club.

The U17s ladies team of Faye Beckett, Lucy Robinson and Sophie Morgan were a good 16th and the highest placed Yorkshire team while the U15s girls team of Bethan Oates, Holly Kitching and India Elliot were 26th.

The U17s men’s team of Cameron Dye, Harry Mallinson and Ben Read finished 30th.
