It seemed that first game nerves had got the better of Huddersfield league debutants Thornes U17s in their Division One season opener against a very strong Greetland.

Going in at the break 2-0 down Thornes were up against it, but as it has so many times in past campaigns, a good pre-season paid dividends for Thornes in the second half as they proved they had the legs and the character to claw back the two-goal deficit.

Jake Hill (65) and Ben Taylor (75) levelled the game for Thornes and a superb 82nd minute penalty save by keeper and man of the match Jacob Molloy earned Thornes a well deserved point.
