Slideshow: Sandal lose to Huddersfield in Yorkshire derby

Visitors Huddersfield triumphed over Sandal 35-19 in the National 3 North derby at Milnthorpe Green on Saturday.

Dave Martin’s touchdown was the hosts’ only score of the first half while Huddersfield responded through tries from George Hunt and Ben Mitchell.

Tom Hodson’s conversion and brace of penalties gave the visitors a 13-point advantage at the break and they extended their lead with Tom Owen’s score on the resumption.

Max Whittingham’s try, improved by Ian Jackson, boosted Sandal’s tally only for Huddersfield to reply with Owen’s second and Ross Thornton’s score.

Austen Thompson’s late try, converted by Jackson, was a consolation for the hosts.
