Stanley masters swimmer Bill Moore has achieved another landmark in the pool by setting a new British record.

The 75 year-old East Leeds club member was one of 275 swimmers in various age groups to take part in the annual T-30 Challenge, in which competitors from around the country attempt to swim as far as they can in 30 minutes.

And Moore’s distance of 1,705m, set at the John Charles Centre for Sport, in Leeds, set a new British record in the 75-79 years age group, easily eclipsing the old record of 1,585m.
