A MOTOR racing starlet from Walton will be embarking on an exciting new challenge on the track next year.

Tom Parker, 13, already has five years experience in kart racing, driving in Europe and enjoying success in the British National Championships.

But now he has set his sights on the 2013 SaxMax Championships on his way to achieving the ultimate ambition of racing GT cars at Le Mans in 2017.

SaxMax, run by the 750 Motor Club, is a nationwide championships designed specifically for youngsters aged from 14 to 17.

All racers drive Citroen Saxo VTR with very strict limitations on tuning, and, since its introduction in 2006, SaxMax has become one of the most popular competitions for youngsters looking for a break in motor racing.

Parker is unable to race until his 14th birthday on April 17 but he has already started testing and developing the car in readiness for his debut.

In recent years, the championships has been televised by Motors TV and Parker is seeking partners and sponsors who can support him in his new challenge.

The Wakefield Express logo will be carried on Parker’s car next year and we will be bringing you all the latest news from the SaxMax series.
