Thornes U15s Reds had to work hard against quality opposition from Norristhorpe, Huddersfield League champions from last season, to earn a 1-1 draw.

In a game of few chances the teams went into the break at 0-0 but Norristhorpe took the lead early in the second half, with a well taken volley.

Ryan Cockerham equalised after latching on to a loose ball, following good pressure on the Norristhorpe back four and keeper.

Thornes’ defence withstood some late pressure to hold firm for the draw, with Parssa Rahami and David Jacques outstanding in central defence, as they have been throughout pre-season.

Josh Collinson was also in great form causing Thornes’ main threat on the left side.
