A quartet of Wakefield golfers missed the cut in the Regional Qualifying for the 2013 Open on Monday.

Scott Barber, Adam Davison, Richard Law and David Mansell all teed off at Moortown Golf Club in Leeds dreaming of progressing to the final qualifying round and a possible place at Muirfield, Scotland, alongside the best golfers in the world at the prestigious event.

But all four fell short, with Low Laithes golfer Law missing out by just one shot with a round of 74. A card of 73 proved enough to see competitors through to the next round, the Local Qualifying round, while five golfers hitting 74 were placed on a reserve list, with Law just missing out.

Mansell finished just one shot behind with a round of 75, as did Waterton Park’s Adam Davison, while Davison’s club mate Scott Barber posted a round of 78.
