Walton Wolves Juniors U16s coach Nikki Lindop has been named West Riding County FA Community Coach of the Year.
The prestigious award recognises Lindop’s commitment to the Wolves team, which she has developed since they were playing at U11s level.
Lindop took over Wolves U11s when their former coach left and the team was in danger of folding.
Despite not winning a single game during her first season, Lindop kept the team together, gained her FA coaching qualifications and, with her blend of enthusiasm and commitment, has seen the team go from strength to strength.
Last season, as U15s, they had their most successful season ever and finished third in the league.
Lindop received her award from former Premier League footballer Ian Ormondroyd at a ceremony at Bradford City and her name now goes into the hat for the National FA Community Coach of the Year Award, to be decided by a panel including Sky Sports pundit and former England and Manchester United star, Gary Neville.
Wolves U16s has received new sponsorship this season from RTC Travel, in Ossett, and have launched a fund-raising campaign to support a footballing tour of Spain in October 2015.
