A second-half fightback by Warwick thwarted QEGS in their quest to lift the Daily Mail RBS U15s Cup at Twickenham on Saturday.
QEGS led 6-0 at half-time but could not prevent Warwick hitting back in the second half to claim the prestigious schools’ trophy with a 12-6 success.
The wet conditions at the home of English rugby union were far from ideal but both teams put on a good spectacle for their travelling supporters.
The Wakefield side started well and Tom Allott kicked them into a 3-0 lead after five minutes.
Warwick responded but the well-organised QEGS defence held firm and Allott kicked a drop-goal just before the break to double his side’s advantage.
The tables were turned after the break as William Stride scored a try from a tap penalty which he converted to give Warwick the lead and Jordan Ainslie scored in injury time to seal the success.
