Ossett Albion face tough AFC Fylde test

OSSETT Albion will look to build on their draw against high-flying Chorley when they host third-placed AFC Fylde at the Warehouse Systems Stadium tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

Eric Gilchrist’s men held Chorley, who sit in second in Evo-Stik Division 1 North, to a 2-2 draw at home on Saturday to end a run of five straight defeats.

It could have been three points, with Albion leading 2-0 before the Lancastrians hit back with a 96th-minute leveller.

Despite the late blow, Albion will look to build on the positives from matching promotion contenders when another side gunning for promotion visit Ossett tonight.

Gilchrist brought three former players back to the club last week in the shape of Dean Johnson, Chris Cornelly, and Dominic Rioirdan.

The trio gave Albion a much-needed boost ahead of Saturday’s encounter and Gilchrist will be looking to go one further and get a much-needed three points tonight.

Albion sit second-from-bottom in Division 1 North, six points behind Trafford who are a position above them in the table.

Wakefield FC host Radcliffe Borough at College Grove tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Bears have been in impressive form since the turn of the year, losing just one match at leaders Chester in January.

Top-scorer Tom Denton will be missing through suspension, but Wakefield fans could get a first look at new signing Arran Horton.

Ossett Town face a tough trip to Kendal Town in the Premier Division tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

Phil Sharpe’s men bagged arguably their best win of the season on Saturday when they upset the form book with a stunning 4-1 win at promotion-hopefuls Worksop Town.

The Town boss will demand more of the same from his troops when they travel to Cumbria as underdogs.
