Catalans Dragons late show denies Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in Perpignan

Wildcats stormed into a 16-0 lead but the Dragons found their way back into the game and eventually bagged the points after a Thomas Bosc drop-goal edged them ahead and a late Jason Baitieri try sealed the win.

Richie Mathers opened the scoring for Wakefield before tries from Peter Fox and Dean Collis, and two Paul Sykes conversions, saw Richard Agar’s men 16-0 up.

Dragons fought back and tries from Mathais Pala and Gregory Mounis got them right back in the game before half-time and former Wildcats winger Damien Blanch levelled the scores on the restart.

Wakefield were not done and Lee Smith went over to put the visitors back ahead but Blanch bagged his second to make it all square again and Bosc edged Catalans ahead with a drop goal.

Baitieri crossed the whitewash to make sure of victory for the hosts and sent Wakefield back home with nothing to show for their efforts.
