Chris Chester challenges Wakefield Trinity to go unbeaten at Belle Vue

Chris Chester’s side have started the Super League campaign with three away games from their opening four matches and beat much-fancied Warrington Wolves in their only home contest so far.

The Black and Whites travel to Belle Vue on Friday night having lost their last three games after a flying start that saw them win against Leeds Rhinos and emerge victorious in the Hull derby against Hull Kingston Rovers.

“I think both teams will be desperate for two different reasons. Hull are coming in off the back of three straight losses,” said Wakefield chief Chris Chester.

“There had been a fair bit of hype around Hull FC this year with the players they have brought in and it was always going to take a little bit of time.

“They will be disappointed with the last three weeks but it is a must-win game for us as well, we need to be desperate.

“We want to win all our games at home. We are one from one at the minute.”

Trinity beat Salford Red Devils in their latest outing to make it two wins from four to start the season. But Chester admits that his side need to develop a more ruthless streak and take advantage whenever they are on top in games.

He said: “There is still heaps of improvement in us. We need to learn as a team that once we have got teams by the throat that we need to keep our foot on the throat.

“We can’t keep letting teams off so easy like we have done the last few weeks.”

He added: “I am pleased with the outcome of the game against Salford but we do make things very hard for ourselves. At times it should have been a little bit more comfortable than it was.”
