Normanton Knights suffered another setback to their Division One promotion hopes when they were pipped 27-26 at lowly East Leeds.

Trailing 17-10 at half-time, Knights fought back in the second-half but they fell agonisingly short.

Their defeat was tough on centre Connor Taylor who scored 14 points with two tries and three goals.

Normanton’s other try scorers were winger Lee Hammond and second-row pair James Senkiw and Thomas Alexander.

It was Normanton’s second successive league defeat. They are now fifth in the table but still only only two points adrift of second-placed Skirlaugh.

However, all four teams teams above Normanton have at least one game in hand on them. Normanton visit Oulton Raiders this Saturday.

Stanley Rangers remain at the foot of Division Two after losing 40-6 at Askam on Saturday.

The Wakefield side trailed 22-0 at half-time.

Their only points came from substitute John Nunns’ second-half try that scrum-half Kieran Holt goaled.

Yorkshire Junior League Division Two leaders Eastmoor Dragons U16s stretched their unbeaten run to 11 games by beating Wyke 64-1.

Jordan Oxley piled up 24 points with two tries and eight goals. Jack Raby was in great form. He scored three tries and set up two more.

Raby put in Will Bubb for the first of his three tries.

Dec Nicholson ran a good line to create a well-worked try for Declan McHale.

Injury-stricken Wyke gave a spirited display but trailed 30-0 at half-time.

Robbie Powell’s break led to Calum Hudson scoring and Nicholson sent in Bubb for his third. MOM James Batty was involved in Raby’s second and third tries and kicked a conversion.

Tom Wriggleworth chipped in with a 65-yard solo effort before Raby put in Liam Brady.

The Dragons again put into practice all the hard work they had done in training.

The magic moment award went to newcomer Corey Javens.

Jenson Glassell won the Rovers MOM and opposition coach’s MOM awards.

Max Newitt scored impressive tries and won the second MOM award.

Ever-improving Lucas Arnold took the third award.

The best overall attitude award went to Dylan Smith.

Evan Potter, Dylan Ross and Leighton Harris ran powerfully and tackled strongly.

Bobby Sharp and Kaden Glassell showed great skill and scored numerous tries.
