Injured Wildcats second-row Lauitiiti set for ‘four to six weeks’ on sidelines

The powerful second-row suffered a hamstring injury in Wakefield’s Good Friday defeat against Castleford Tigers and he’ll undergo a scan to reveal the full extent of the set-back.

But Wakefield head coach Richard Agar is expecting the injury to keep the 32-year-old out for four to six weeks - an improvement on his initial fears.

“Ali has got a scan,” said Agar.

“We’ve had a slow turnaround getting him a scan because of the Easter break but we’re probably anticipating that it’s not as bad as we first felt.

“We’ve got to wait for the results of the MRI that he’ll have but we’re hoping that it’s going to be four to six weeks. On first indications we thought it’d be a little longer than that.”

The news will be a blow to an out-of-form Wakefield side and means Lauitiiti will miss a return to former club Leeds in the Carnegie Challenge Cup tomorrow night.
