Three-sy does it for Wakefield Wildcats in Rugby League 9s

WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats made it another perfect night in the Rugby League 9s with three wins out of three on home soil on Tuesday night.

Glenn Morrison's young guns saw off local rivals Castleford Tigers, Featherstone Rovers and Huddersfield Giants in the penultimate weekly round of this year's competition at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

It means Wakefield have now won eight of their nine matches so far in this year's competition and look set to book a place in the Grand Final night at Headingley Carnegie later this month.

Wildcats and Huddersfield Giants kicked-off the Easter Division festival and the hosts eased to a 22-0 victory to continue where they left off from round two.

Featherstone Rovers got the local bragging rights from the second match with a 22-16 win over Castleford Tigers. Things got no better for the Tigers, who included former Wakefield player Steve Snitch in their squad, in their second match of the night as they suffered a 36-24 defeat against Huddersfield.

Wakefield made it two out of two with a 22-12 win over Featherstone but Rovers hit back to finish their night with a win over the Giants by the same scoreline.

A derby match closed the evening and it was Wakefield who won it 30-8, making it three out of three on the night and condemning Gary Thornton's Tigers to three defeats.
