Trinity are without a victory since the Super League campaign resumed in August, with Johnstone picking up an arm injury in Wakefield's first game back - when they narrowly lost to the Warriors at Headingley.

However, head coach Chris Chester revealed that the prolific try-scorer could have made his return against Huddersfield Giants last week if the fixture was scheduled for later than Thursday.

"He is not far away at all," Chester confirmed prior to last week's 29-6 loss against Huddersfield.

"If this [Huddersfield] game had been a little bit later on in the week then I would have been confident he would have been available.

"Tom Johnstone certainly comes into my thoughts next Friday against Wigan."

Wakefield are set to name their squad for Friday's clash with the Warriors at 12 noon tomorrow.
