Trinity Ladies look to Super League

The Trinity Ladies have enjoyed a fine campaign under Hirst and topped the Championship with a 28-8 win over Oulton to claim the League Leaders title last weekend.

This Sunday, they face Leigh Miners Rangers in the play-off semi-final, hoping to book their spot in next week’s Grand Final in Manchester.

“There is not automatic promotion, there is an application process to get into Super League,” said Hirst.

“Wakefield do qualify to go in and there are talks of us possibly going into Super League. And the hope is that we do push to get in there for next year.”

Hirst admitted that he has been surprised by Wakefield’s form this season, after they lost just three of their 14 league games.

Leigh Miners Rangers were one of the sides who beat Trinity in the regular season and Hirst insists it won’t be an easy task on Sunday.

He added: “It has been a bit of a surprise really.

“We wanted to go through the season to enjoy it and obviously pick up wins.

“But to start the way we started and get them wins and to finish where we have has been amazing, there isn’t much more I could have asked for really.

“A lot of this year was about building, and next year maybe push but we have done really well.”
