The 23-year-old from Wakefield has been with the club since 2014 but has spent plenty of time out on loan with the likes of Dewsbury Rams, York City Knights and Newcastle Thunder.

He made 18 Super League appearances for Trinity in 2019 and followed that with 10 league outings last term, filling in at hooker on occasion.

“In terms of the first team, the performances of people like Jordan Crowther, he has been a standout player for us. He has really worked hard on his game over the last couple of years,” said Chester.

“He found himself on the fringes of the first team in recent seasons but the biggest accolade I can give him is that he is one of the first names I think about when we are picking a side.

“Especially when we are coming up against a tough side with big people in the middle, Jordy is one of the first players mentioned in our daily staff meetings.

“There are certain individuals that have really shone. At the back end of the season, Reece Lyne showed why he is around that England set-up.

“Ti Arona, the input that he had over the final four or five weeks showed how important he is to the team and Jacob Miller also.”

In a season of toil, one large positive for Chester was the first-team experience a number of the club’s younger players gained.

“It was a good opportunity to blood some young kids,” added Chester.

“There are kids there like Harry Bowes, Connor Bailey and Jack Croft.

“Those kind of guys have had more experience playing first grade. They will be a lot better for those experiences.

“That is certainly a positive from the year and those guys would have gotten a lot out of the handful of games they played.”

Trinity are set to being pre-season training next week ahead with the Super League campaign set to start on March 11.
