Wakefield Trinity Ladies will enter the Women’s Premier League next year and go up against teams from the likes of Featherstone Rovers, Normanton Knights and Bradford Bulls.
Trinity chairman Michael Carter said: “We would like to welcome the Wakefield Trinity Ladies team to our family club. This is a great partnership that we have forged and we really look forward to seeing the female game flourish within Wakefield.”
Wakefield Trinity Ladies head coach Joanne Phillips said: “We believe this to be a pioneering move from a Super League club. As a team, this presents us with endless opportunities for players, coaches and team development, but more importantly to promote the women’s game within the Wakefield community, and hopefully engage more women and girls to participate within rugby league.
“We’d like to thank the chairman and all involved, along with our kit sponsors Kinnerton Confectionary for all the fantastic opportunities this has and will present us with.”
