Wakefield Wildcats host England training session

ENGLAND started preparations for Wednesday’s second International Origin match against the Exiles with a training session at Wakefield Wildcats’ Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Monday morning.

Steve McNamara, England’s head coach and former Wakefield player, put his squad through their paces with an hour-long field session at the home of the Wildcats. The squad then visited Total Fitness gym for a post-training stretch session.

Liam Farrell, Scott Taylor and Josh Hodgson were all involved after being called-up to the squad over the weekend as replacements for Gareth Hock, Danny Tickle and Jonny Lomax respectively.

England won the first match 18-10 in St Helens and they’ll be out to make it two wins from two at Huddersfield’s Galpharm Stadium on Wednesday (kick-off 7.45pm).

Wakefield have no players included in McNamara’s squad but Vince Mellars is part of Daniel Anderson’s Exiles squad.

Wildcats coach Glenn Morrison, who’s part of the Exiles coaching set-up, also revealed to Express Sport last week that Dean Collis and Tim Smith were due to be included but injury to Collis, and the birth of Smith’s child, saw both miss out.

McNamara will name his squad for Wednesday’s game at 1pm today.
