Wakefield Wildcats: Injury-free back extends contract in double boost for Wildcats

The ex-Leeds Rhinos winger/full-back joined Trinity ahead of this season on a one-year contract – with the option of a further year – after leaving Salford Red Devils. He has now agreed the extra 12 months and, in a further boost, is set to be fit to return to action for Chris Chester’s side in Saturday’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup semi-final against Warrington Wolves after a recent injury-lay-off.

Jones-Bishop has scored 11 tries in 20 games so far this term, helping to secure Trinity a top-eight finish ahead of the Super 8s as well as standing just 80 minutes from Wembley.

“I am really happy to continue my stay here at Wakefield,” said the player, who was an unused member of England’s Four Nations squad in 2011.

“It has been an enjoyable year with the boys and I am looking forward to being a part of the club’s progression next season.”

Jones-Bishop, who turns 28 next month, won Super League Grand Finals with Leeds in 2011 and 2012.

Chester has confirmed he will feature in the semi-final at Leigh and captain Danny Kirmond will “definitely” play after being out since June 12 with a serious knee infection.

Wildcats, who will name their 19-man squad tomorrow, also welcome back hooker Scott Moore from suspension and Scott Anderson but Matty Ashurst and Bill Tupou are injured.
