Wildcats wing wizard Cockayne rewarded with two-year contract extension

WAKEFIELD Wildcats wing wizard Ben Cockayne has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium until the end of 2014.

The former Hull KR man had penned an initial one-year deal with Wakefield in the close season with the promise of an extended deal if he impressed in the red, white and blue.

And with seven tries in eight Super League matches so far - including a hat-trick against Huddersfield Giants - Cockayne has earned his new deal.

“When I signed Rich (Agar) said to me that if I started the season well then he’d look after me and we’d sit down about extending my stay and I’m really happy to sign the contract extension,” said Cockayne.

“It’s been great so far and it was all about me having another chance to play Super League again and I’m enjoying being at the club.

“It was a massive bonus for me to get back into Super League and not only that but to join a club that is very much on the up is a real positive.”

Cockayne is set to play in his first game since penning the new deal when Wildcats host Castleford Tigers in the big derby match at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium this Friday (kick-off 7.30pm).

Wildcats say seated tickets are “extremely limited” and anyone wanting to buy tickets in the Centre or Eric France East Stand are advised to purchase them as soon as possible.

Fans are also being advised to buy their tickets for anywhere in the ground sooner rather than later to avoid missing out.

Tickets cost from £20 adults and £12 juniors and concessions. They can be bought by visiting the Wildcats retail outlet in the Ridings, at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium box office, by calling 01924 201548 or visiting the Wildcats official online ticket site.
