Wingers on the move at Batley Bulldogs

FORMER Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Huddersfield Giants winger Greg Johnson has signed for Batley Bulldogs but Alex Brown has left Mount Pleasant to join Hull KR.

Winger Brown, 25, played for Huddersfield before switching codes and joining Sale Sharks.

However, a permanent move to Batley last February resurrected Brown’s rugby league career and his fine performances for Bulldogs have earned him a one-year deal with the option of another 12 months at Rovers.

Johnson, 22, who had a brief non-playing loan stint with the Bulldogs in 2010, will be reunited with Batley boss and former Wakefield head coach John Kear, who added the speedy winger to his Wildcats’ roster in April 2011.

Johnson’s spell with Trinity was short-lived however and he was released by the club in October 2011 after he was sentenced to two years in jail for assaulting a woman in a Huddersfield bar.
