WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats fans will get a chance to see some of the club’s rising stars when they entertain Sheffield Eagles in a pre-season friendly tonight, Friday.
Head coach Richard Agar will lead out a much-changed Trinity team to the one that lost at Leeds Rhinos on Boxing Day and give younger members of his squad the chance to impress ahead of the start of Super League XVII.
In his first home outing since arriving at the club, Agar is once again hoping to witness a good performance from the Wildcats in their second trial game of the pre-season against Co-operative Championship high-fliers Eagles.
He said: “The result is not massively important it’s about how we perform.
“The younger players need a chance to show what they can do and we need to make sure that everyone gets a similar amount of game time so that they can stake a claim. There will also be players with more experience so it will be a good team that goes out.
“Sheffield are a very useful side and they will come to Wakefield with a lot of enthusiasm. They are well-coached and well-drilled so it’s a chance for me to see our younger players in the heat of battle and assess how they get on.”
