Departing Kear having no say in Wildcats’ 2012 recruitment

WAKEFIELD Wildcats head coach John Kear insists he’s had no involvement in the club’s player recruitment for next season.

The club has been busy in securing the services of no fewer than nine players for 2012 in just over a week.

But Kear, who will leave the club at the end of the season, has had no input.

“I’ve had no involvement in the dealings at all,” he said.

“Obviously with this season being my last I’ve left that to James Elston and Andrew Glover, who are understandably getting on with things.”

Kear is looking for a new employer for 2012 and has been linked with the soon-to-be-vacated hotseat at his hometown club Castleford Tigers.

But the Cats coach is keeping his focus firmly on Wakefield before deciding his future at the end of the campaign.

“I’m getting this season out of the way first,” he said.

“We have four Super League games to go this season and I want to finish the season with some wins for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.”
