FORMER Cronulla Sharks and Wigan Warriors play-maker Tim Smith has signed a one-year contract at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, according to reports in Australia.
The 26 year-old was released by Sharks at the end of the season, making way for Todd Carney’s move to the NRL club, and as predicted in the Wakefield Express on September 2, Smith looks set to make the move to Yorkshire.
This morning, Wednesday, the Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that Smith has agreed a one-year deal at Wakefield with the half-back saying he was “looking forward to going overseas”.
Smith will increase Richard Agar’s options in the backs and the Wildcats boss could yet add more strength in depth with the capture of New Zealand Warriors’ Isaac John, who is also understood to be closing in on a move to Wakefield.
